Two Flimsies

September is such a great month and it was a great weekend.  I finally got to fly, lounge around the pool and turn a little pink, and catch up on some of my quilting projects.

Drumroll please...Announcing the assembly of Sandy’s two RSC projects for 2019.....

ONE:  Seeing Spots Pixelated, based on a quilt found online from Capital Quilters in New Zealand. Will frame the rainbow loveliness with a black binding.

TWO: Extra Fancy, using Bonnie Hunter’s Pinwheel Fancy block pattern from Quiltmaker magazine  Addicted To Scraps column circa 2015. Someone had made this big block version for Quiltmaker's blog, but the blog post is no longer available. Thank goodness I had saved a screenshot, although did not capture the quilter's name to give proper credit. [Update: Barb Johnson is the quilter and HERE is her blogpost about this cute medallion option]

And a HALF:  Assembled two sections of Pat Sloan's Out of This World quilt. One more block to go in this monthly program, then the third section can be assembled and borders added. Not sure why pic is upside down.

Now to ride off in the sunset after all this productivity (this is a snap from my evening flight). Hope you had a productive weekend, too!

July is Out of This World

Each month this year I have been participating in Pat Sloan’s “Out Of This World” block-of-the-month program. This month’s block is too stinkin’ cute!  Not sure why this picture displays upside down. Maybe it's doing a cartwheel?

En Provence is also progressing. More of the border has been filled in. For some reason my cat likes to play with the pretty blocks. I shudder to think what this will look like tomorrow morning.

But my second wind may be winding down. I really need to finish The Farmers Daughter Stars. The quilting is nearly done with just the border to go, and the binding is prepared. I can't wait to show you!

New Beginnings

Happy New Year, folks!  While binge-watching Game of Thrones, I made Block #1 of Pat Sloan's Out of This World BOM.  This block was named Space Shuttle. Like that center!

I was one of the fortunate who snapped up the fabric collection from Fat Quarter Shop before it sold out. Last year I waited a few months then started buying camping themed fabrics for her Let's Go Camping BOM, but I never made any of the blocks. Maybe I should make it at the same time as the 2019 series.

This first block was a huge one.. I like the soft gray, navy and teal colors underscored with a little black. This should be fun!  My uncle used to work for NASA, so I am all for celebrating space exploration.  Plus I really love sci-fi books and movies.  Venture is my word for 2019, after all.
